Female College Student Suddenly Collapsed and Passed Away
A female college student in Talisay City, Negros Occidental passed away for an unknown reason inside school campus.
On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the Facebook page “The Technopacer – Talisay” announced that a student from Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) in Talisay City had died for an unknown reason.
The official school publication, The Technopacer – Talisay, announced the death of Jeralyn Latoza, a second-year Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences student. Her sudden death left classmates, teachers, and friends grieving.

According to Dr. Maria Victoria Violanda, director of the Office for Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), CCTV footage showed Latoza walking toward the fourth floor of the Library, Science, and Academic Building (LSAB) when she suddenly stopped, grabbed onto something for support, and collapsed.
Violanda clarified that Latoza did not slip and that there was no foul play involved in the incident. The university nurse, Dominic M. Requina, quickly responded and provided first aid before bringing her to Riverside Hospital. Sadly, she was declared dead upon arrival.
The university has assured the family and the public that they are doing everything they can to help and support Latoza’s loved ones during this difficult time. The administration and student community have expressed deep sorrow over her sudden passing.

As of this writing, the exact cause of her death is still unknown. Medical examinations are being conducted to determine what happened.
The whole CHMSU community continues to mourn the loss of a bright young student whose future was just beginning. Friends and fellow students have been offering prayers and messages of comfort, remembering Latoza as a kind and cheerful classmate.
