Charo Santos talked about her drama anthology
Veteran actress Charo Santos admitted that she is hopeful for the return of the award-winning drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK).
For three decades, Charo hosted the show that had become part of the viewing habit of many Filipino families. With the shows effect to the viewers, this has become part of the pop culture.
Many Filipinos got accustomed with Charo’s voice in reading letters from people who wanted to share their inspiring stories.
However, even good things come to an end. MMK big goodbye in 2022 after airng for 31 years. This saddened not just Charo Santos but also the avid viewers of the show.
That sadness was temporarily addressed when MMK ended its two-year hiatus with a limited series run streamed on iWantTFC.
In a recent interview, based on the article in ABS-CBN Entertainment, Charo admitted that she was hoping that there would be a possible new season for the drama anthology.
“Yung MMK lang ang nagpahinga din after ABS-CBN lost its franchise. We’re hoping that, you know, there will be a season two this year. I’m just keeping my fingers crossed. I’ve reached the stage where I take things one day at a time. We don’t anymore lose sleep over concerns. I’m just so grateful for all the blessings that came my way. So everyday is really just an opportunity to learn and to say thank you that I’m still around and still very much alive,” Charo shared.
In the same interview, the veteran actress also shared her decision to retire from corporate life, with the intention to explore new things, like doing TikTok. She shared that when she was a TV executive, she had to know her priorities and balancing her work and family life. Thankfully, she has a very supportive husband and there was no pressure coming from him.
Charo Santos shared that her late husband Cesar Rafael Concio Jr., with whom she shares more than 40 years of marriage, supported her with her endeavors. There was respect between them, and she did not abuse the respect she received from her late husband.
