New DPWH Chief Speaks on Flood Control Projects Issue in PH
New DPWH chief Vince Dizon confirmed he will order the courtesy resignations of the officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways nationwide amid the flood control projects issue in the country.
The DPWH earned massive criticisms from countless Filipinos amid the issue of failed flood control projects in the Philippines. In Bulacan, President Bongbong Marcos found an over P55-million ‘ghost’ Riverwall as well as a flood control project that is incomplete and made of substandard materials.

Marcos Jr. even called out the St. Timothy Construction, the contractor of the “incomplete” and substandard flood control structure in the province. It is one of the 15 contractors flagged by the President to have received 20% of the government flood control deals from July 2022 to May 2025.

According to Pres. Bongbong Marcos, the Philippines has already spent over P500-billion for the flood control projects. Previously, amid the issue, Malacañang clarified that the trust and confidence of the President on then Public Works Chief Manuel Bonoan remains.

Amid the issue, the DPWH Chief ordered the suspension of the travel authority applications for all personnel of the agency amid the flood control probe. Recently, amid the calls of some Filipinos and government officials, Bonoan resigned from the post.
Marcos Jr. accepted Bonoan’s resignation and he was replaced with new DPWH chief Vince Dizon. Prior to the appointment in the Public Works department, Dizon was the head of the Department of Transportation.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, new DPWH Chief Vince Dizon confirmed that he will order the courtesy resignation of all officials of the agency. It is in line with Marcos Jr.’s move to get rid of corrupt officials in the government.
“Kailangan siyang gawin kasi nakita ng Pangulo, nakita nating lahat ang nangyari sa ahensyang ito,” Dizon said.
The new DPWH Chief further said that the courtesy resignations that will be ordered among the officials of the agency will include undersecretaries, assistant secretaries, division heads, and district engineers nationwide. Based on the report, he will also impose “a lifetime blacklisting” on the contractors who are behind the ‘ghost’ and substandard flood control projects in the country.
“Wala na itong prose-proseso, walang imbestigasyon, automatic, blacklisted for life ang contractor na yan. May kaakibat na kasong yan. Lahat ng ating makukuha ay ipapasa natin sa independent commission na itinayo ng ating Pangulo,” the new DPWH Chief said.
