Former PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III maintained that he has no resentment over his relief from his post as ordered by President Bongbong Marcos.

The Philippine National Police is now under a new lead. Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez is appoint as the OIC PNP chief following the relief of Torre which was ordered by Marcos Jr. less than three (3) months since he was appointed to lead the nation police.

In a statement released by the Palace, there was no mention of the reason why Torre was relieved from his position. Meanwhile, the Department of Interior and Local Government maintained that the former PNP Chief always has a “great” relationship with the Marcos administration.

DILG also clarified that former PNP chief Nicolas Torre III did not violate any law. According to Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla, it was simply a decision of the President to take the PNP into a new direction. He also made it clear that Torre is not charged with any criminal nor administrative offense.

Both the Interior Secretary and the MalacaƱang confirmed that a new position in the government is being offered to Torre following his relief as the PNP chief. However, they did not divulge as to which specific position the President is offering to the ex-PNP Chief.

Bongbong Marcos

Recently, former PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III broke his silence and spoke to the press for the first time since he was relieved from the position as ordered by Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, he stressed that he is “a good soldier” and he is not offended by the decision of the President.

“Wala akong sama ng loob. I’m a good soldier. Kung may order, I just follow it,” Torre said.

According to the former PNP Chief, in his 30-year tenure as a cop, “this is not the first time that this happened” and he stressed that he always bounced back everytime it does. Based on the report, he even challenged the reporters to really see it through his eyes how he really feels.

“Look at me straight to the eye. Do I look like somebody who is bitter? Kung kamusta ako? Okay,” he said.

Torre also clarified that he remains in good terms with Remulla. Based on the report, on the DILG Secretary’s claim that the former PNP Chief has not received or returned to his calls, Torre blamed the slow internet, thus, he was unable to make a return call to the Interior Secretary nor receive his call.

Amid the issue, acting Davao Mayor Baste Duterte who is currently in The Hague, Netherlands, was asked about the relief of Torre. According to acting Davao Mayor Baste Duterte, he believes that ex-PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III is allegedly really “demoted”.
