Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod has released a formal statement following a viral video involving one of its teachers. 

Previously, the Facebook page “Oh you’re from La Salle? Tell me about high tuitions” shared a video of a teacher giving instructions to students. The post quickly went viral and gathered various reactions online. 

The video shows a teacher giving instructions to students during a school event. Toward the end, the teacher added a remark comparing Augustinians to students from another well-known school.

“Requesting Augustinians, hands off po tayo. okay? and we understand the instructions, we are augustinians at hindi Lasallian,” she said. 

Her remarks immediately sparked laughter from the students present but also caught the attention of many internet users, some of whom expressed disapproval. 

Eventually, Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod decided to address the issue publicly. In its official statement, the school explained that the remark was made with humor in mind but admitted that it unintentionally offended members of another school community.

The institution emphasized that the statement does not reflect the values it upholds and assured the public that steps are being taken to address the matter internally. 

The school further reaffirmed its commitment to values such as dignity, inclusivity, and respect, stressing the importance of maintaining positive relationships with other educational institutions. 

It also reminded its community of the responsibility that comes with communication, especially in public and online spaces where words can easily be misinterpreted.
