The office of VP Sara Duterte makes a clarification about her travels abroad.
VP SARA DUTERTE – The Office of the Vice President released a statement regarding the multiple travels of the VP in the past month.
Halfway through the year, Vice President Sara Duterte has already made multiple travels abroad, some of which were personal. She went to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and led the 127th Philippine Independence Day celebration. It was part of her mandate as the President of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO).

After Malaysia, VP Sara flew to Australia, a personal trip to lead the “Free Duterte Now” gathering on June 22. She had also been to The Hague in late May and then flew to Qatar, Malaysia, and Australia.
While the buzz is still going on about her frequent travels and her whereabouts still unknown, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) released a statement. Her office confirmed that her recent travel was to Kuwait, where she discussed “concerns and issues impacting their sector” during a gathering there with the Filipino community.
“As part of the Vice President’s mandate to represent and advocate for the welfare of all Filipinos, including those overseas, it is essential that she remains actively engaged with the Filipino migrant communities wherever they may be,” it stressed.
The second-in-command will also “continue working on the release” of her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is currently detained at the International Criminal Court detention in The Hague, the Netherlands.
The statement further stressed that these engagements have complied with the existing government rules and regulations. It also pointed out significant points, stating that her presence abroad is “both lawful and aligned with her responsibilities in public service.”
Moreover, no public funds were utilized. It also emphasized that despite the constraints in capacity and budget, Duterte remains committed to serving and assisting Filipinos.
