Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Breaks Silence on Senate Ruling over her Impeachment Complaint
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President called for respect on the Senate ruling to archive the impeachment complaint against her.
The Senate has voted to archive the impeachment articles against Vice Pres. Duterte after 19 senators agreed to the motion. Initially, the motion of Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairman Rodante Marcoleta was to dismiss the impeachment case but it was changed to the archiving of the motion.

Only four (4) senators opposed the motion to archive the impeachment complaint against the Vice President. Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson abstained from making a vote amid a pending Motion for Reconsideration filed by the House of Representatives before the Supreme Court.

Senate Minority Leader Tito Sotto attempted to table the motion of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta to table but his motion lost with only five (5) votes. On the Senate ruling to archive Duterte’s impeachment complaint, Sen. Tito Sotto could only pray for “God to have mercy” on their decision.
For Duterte-known ally Sen. Bong Go who supported the archiving of Duterte’s impeachment complaint, he called on his fellow senators to “move on”. Most of the lawmakers who agreed to the motion cited the ruling of the Supreme Court.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte broke her silence on the ruling of the Senate to archive the impeachment complaint against her. Based on a report on GMA News, the Vice President called on the people to respect the decision of the Senate.
“Kailangan natin respetuhin ang role ng Senate of the Philippines sa demokrasya,” the Vice President said.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte further expressed that if it is the decision of the majority members of the Senate, everyone must follow and respect the Senate’s decision. Meanwhile, based on the report, she stressed that her legal team will still have to prepare for possible developments on the case.
According to presidential sister and Senator Imee Marcos who is close to the Vice President, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte “thanked God” over the voting of the Senate on her impeachment case.
