2 Concerned Citizens Earns Praise Online for Cleaning Clogged Canal on Their Own

Two concerned citizens in Antipolo City, Rizal, went viral online for cleaning a clogged canal on their town.

On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, the Facebook account of Mayor Jun Ynares shared photos of two concerned citizens cleaning a clogged canal in Antipolo City, Rizal. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.

The two concerned residents, identified as Reymond and Janet decided to do something about a canal that was completely clogged with trash, instead of ignoring it. Using only a small stick, Reymond carefully removed plastic bottles, wrappers, and other waste that had blocked the flow of water.

Despite not having any tools or being part of a clean-up drive, the two took action out of simple concern for their surroundings. Reymond actively cleaning the canal while Janet filmed the moment.

Janet was even heard joking in the background, saying Reymond should just use his hands to make the work faster and that he might as well apply for a government job because of his dedication.

Saludo kami sa inyo for taking care of our environment in your simplest way.

Patunay ang inyong ginawa na it doesn’t cause a single penny para ipakita ang malasakit sa ating kapaligiran. All it takes is a heart that cares and and a body that acts.
