Ride-Hailing App Driver Earns Praise for His Kindness to Passenger During Long Trip
A Filipino ride-hailing app driver earns online admiration for showing kindness to a passenger during a 9-hour trip amid heavy traffic.
On Monday evening, July 21, 2025, a passenger named Maxinne Villar Villamor shared her experience on Threads, where she detailed how the driver accepted her booking from TriNoma Landmark in Quezon City and bravely faced the 9-hour traffic on North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) just to bring her home to Maysan, Valenzuela.
Villamor was picked up at 6:00 p.m., but because of nonstop rain and heavy traffic, they only arrived at 3:00 a.m. the next day. Despite the delay, the driver, known as Kuya Jayson, remained calm, never complained, and continuously checked if Maxinne was okay, even offering food and water during the long trip.
At one point, the driver even stepped out of the vehicle to buy food and water. He returned with Jollibee meals and snacks, insisting Maxinne eat even if he didn’t. She shared that he told her he was already used to such situations and that she shouldn’t worry.
Maxinne gave him P1,500, more than double the P707 fare. Some netizens also sent donations to Kuya Jayson’s mobile number posted in the original thread, expressing their appreciation and hoping it would help him and his family.
The lady passenger thanked him for his sacrifice, saying that people like him truly make a difference in this world, even during the toughest traffic jams.

“Last night, I was stranded in NLEX Balintawak, tapos naka grab pa ako. Sobrang nahihiya ako dahil 6pm nya ako napick-up and halos 3am na kami nakarating ng valenzuela. I’m so thankful sa driver kasi never nya pinaramdam na nagsisisi sha na inaccept nya booking ko. Super bait pa nya, and lagi nag-aask if okay lang daw ba ako, if need ko daw food or water, then sabi ko okay lang ako. Then maya-maya, nagpaalam sha na lumabas, sabi nya makikibalita daw sha, tapos bigla sha bumalik sa car
Saying “Ma’am may nagbebenta ng jollibee don 100 each, and ako naman dali-dali na nagbigay 200 para kami dalawa makakain, tapos pagbalik, “Ma’am isa nalang natira, sayo na to”, sabi ko naman, Hindi na kuya, mas need mo yan, okay lang ako” tapos sabi nya “Maam, sayo na to, busog pako, may nagbebenta din ng biscuits don, yun nalang sakin” tapos nag ask sha, wala ka tubig maam no? Tapos tumakbo na naman sha para bumili ng tubig.
Pagbalik, may dala sha water and biscuits. Tapos inooffer ko pa din ung jollibee, kasi naguiguilty pa din ako na ako lang kakain, sabi nya, Ma’am okay lang ako, sanay ako sa ganito. So, no choice kinain ko ung food. To kuyang driver sa indrive – super thank you, kundi dahil sayo di ako makakauwi knowing na babalik kapa ng pasig.”
