Cainta Mayor Kit Nieto Orders Arrest of Individuals Over Improper Waste Disposal
Cainta Mayor Kit Nieto has ordered the arrest of several individuals over improper waste disposal in the area.
Johnielle Keith Pasion Nieto took legal action after ongoing problems with improper waste disposal in the area. After giving repeated chances and understanding to those involved, the mayor finally ordered the arrest and filing of charges against individuals caught scattering garbage in public spaces.
The issue had been happening for a long time, especially along Ortigas Avenue Extension near BF Metal.
According to the mayor, people would take garbage from inside a nearby compound, spread it along the sidewalk, and pick out items they could sell. A pile of waste left behind, causing inconvenience to residents and passersby.
The local government had to send cleaning teams almost every day, even on Sundays, just to clear the mess. Motorists passing through the area would often notice the trash and complain about how dirty the place looked. The garbage affected not only the cleanliness of the town but also its image.
Mayor Nieto shared that while he understands that people are trying to earn a living, the damage caused by their actions could no longer be ignored. The daily disruption and unsanitary conditions pushed him to take stronger steps.
On Sunday (April 19, 2026), authorities carried out the arrests of those responsible. Cases were also prepared to ensure accountability for their actions. Despite this, the mayor still showed a willingness to help.
He mentioned that once those arrested are released, they can approach him for possible work as community watch members. The move aims to give them a second chance while also promoting discipline and responsibility in keeping the community clean.
