Vilma Santos shared her thoughts on the missing sabungeros issue
Newly elected Batangas Governor Vilma Santos reacted to reports that the Taal Lake became a dump site for missing sabungeros.
Vilma or Ate Vi returned to the political arena in the 2025 elections. Fortunately, she won and had her comeback in public service.
In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, the Star For All Seasons was asked about the recent issue involving the Taal Lake, which is located in the province of Batangas.

To recall, the whistleblower, Julie “Dondon” Patidongan or Alias Totoy, claimed that the missing sabungeros were buried in Taal Lake.
Sa unang araw ng muling panunungkulan ng Star For All Seasons na si Vilma Santos bilang gobernador ng lalawigan ng Batangas ay sinalubong siya ng isyu ukol sa mga nawawalang sabungero.
Vilma Santos said that it is indeed the hottest issue now, but she pointed out that there was no verdict yet from the court, and the legal aspect of this is still ongoing.
“It’s the hottest issue now,” pag-amin ni Vilma.
The actress-politician said that she is just worried about the image of the well-known tourist destination. “Ang akin lang, siyempre nadadamay ang Taal Lake namin, you get me?” she said.
She added that there is no confirmation yet about this, and it has affected the livelihood of fishermen. “And you know, that happened a long time ago. Three years ago,” Vilma stressed.

The actress-politician also asked not to drag Taal Lake into the issue because it is just creating fear among the people. “Tsaka hindi naman natin alam kung totoong nandiyan nga, you know. So, huwag naman sana. Huwag naman sana,” she stressed.
When it comes to the issue that has involved certain personalities, Vilma Santos does not want to intervene because there is another entity that handles this case and there is no certainty yet.
Then, the Batangas Governor asked people not to put Taal Lake in a bad light because it is really affecting the fisher folks who are earning from it.
