Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Aliases of Confidential Funds Recipients
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President vowed that she will answer to the confidential funds issue publicly if there will be no impeachment trial.
The senators have different takes on the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Duterte. However, the Senate impeachment court has previously returned the Articles of Impeachment against Duterte to the House of Representatives.

The House impeached Duterte last February 5. She is surrounded by accusations of alleged misuse of confidential funds. There are also issues about the aliases of the CIF recipients including Team Amoy Asim, Joug de Asim, and Amoy Liu.
Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero previously clarified that the return of Duterte’s impeachment to the House does not equate to a dismissal or termination of the impeachment case. The Senate impeachment court also sent summons to the Vice President.

Countless people were surprised with the remand of Duterte’s impeachment to the House. However, the Senate President who acts as the presiding officer in the trial maintained that the impeachment court can decide on anything.

In her response to the summons from the Senate impeachment court, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte sought for the dismissal of the impeachment case against her. According to her, she just followed the decision of her lawyers even if she has a different desire.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte spoke on the aliases used as recipients of the Confidential Funds. Based on a report on GMA News, the Vice President claimed that there are rules about the use of aliases in intelligence operations.
“There are rules in intelligence operations, and you already heard some people who work in intelligence say that aliases are often used in intelligence operations,” she said.
According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, her camp will present an intelligence operations expert as a resource person in the impeachment trial. Based on the report, the Vice President asked the public to just wait for the trial and vowed that she will answer to the issue publicly if there will be no trial.
“So let us wait for the trial, and as I said yesterday, if there is no trial, then I will answer it publicly,” Duterte said.
Currently, the Vice President is in The Hague for scheduled visits to her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, who is currently detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte confirmed that former Pres. Duterte has become “skin and bones” now.
