Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto Informs the Public Ahead about 2025 Elections Plan

VICO SOTTO – The Pasig Mayor spoke on the 2028 Elections saying he will not run for an office amid the public’s call.

Countless Filipinos praise the good governance of the Pasig Mayor. It even ignited calls for him to run for president in the future election. In 2021, he was awarded as one of 12 global anti-corruption champions by the U.S. Department of State. He was recognized for his transparency initiatives.

Before becoming the mayor of Pasig which ended the reign of a political family in Pasig for decades, Vico was a councilor. Many Filipinos admire the son of Eat Bulaga host Vic Sotto and veteran actress Coney Reyes for remaining focused on his job amid the situation in politics.

There are countless calls for the Pasig Mayor to run for president in the future poll. Vic Sotto said it is up to Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto if he would as it is his decision. Visibly, the Pasig Mayor’s parents are just there supporting and guiding him.

Recently, Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto took his oath for his third and final term as the local chief executive. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, he broke his silence on the calls for him to run for a higher office in the 2028 Elections.

According to Mayor Vico, he is not running in the 2028 Elections. He also stressed that he is free to do what he thinks is right.

“Ngayon wala nang pulitika; 2028 hindi ako tatakbo. Ngayon pa lang sinasabi ko na sa inyo. Kaya malaya ako gawin kung anong tingin ko ang tama,” he said.

The Pasig Mayor said he did not spoke about it during the election campaign period as his statement may be regarded as a political move. He stressed that there are things that should not be talked about during the campaign period.

“May mga bagay po na hindi ko puwede sabihin noong panahon ng pangangampanya kasi baka sabihin political motive… Siyempre ‘pag political season, mahirap magsalita, sabihin pulitika lang yan,” the Pasig Mayor said.

In his speech at the turnover ceremony of the local officials, Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto also called out the individuals who are allegedly involved in illegal activities. He stressed they must be held accountable for the crimes.

Based on the report, Mayor Vico also urged the people engaged in illegal activities to pay for their taxes. According to him, he is willing to talk even to the people who spend money to destroy his image.

Recently, the Pasig Mayor’s father, Vic Sotto, reacted to the viral “low quality phone” of Mayor Vico.
