Man in South Cotabato Now in Critical Condition After Bitten by Cobra
A man is now in critical condition after being bitten by a cobra that entered his home in Lake Sebu, South Cotabato.
A snake had made its way into the man’s house, the man and his young nephew did not realize, his family said. The kid then called for help because the cobra attacked him. His uncle came to check and was looking for the snake to which the snake burst out and bit him on the leg.
The man was immediately taken to the hospital and is now in Intensive Care Unit (ICU). At least the little boy is still in a stable condition after receiving the anti-venom injection, while residents of the area managed to kill the cobra shortly after the incident.

Another cobra has also been caught in the same barangay in Enrile city, Barangay Magalalag West in Cagayan de Oro. The cobra was found living on a residential road and it is reported to have killed several dogs in the house, at some residents are worried.
The Municipal and Community Environment and Natural Resources Office responded and captured the snake. According to reports, there were approximately 50 eggs found near the snake and it was eventually transferred to a wildlife center in Tuguegarao City for proper treatment.
Snakes should be kept on the lookout for the general public in rural areas, particularly during the rainy season, when they are more likely to seek refuge indoors, local officials say. People should report snake sightings immediately to local officials so they can safely remove them, they say.

The recent snake-bite incidents are a reminder of how dangerous snakes can be and of the importance of immediate medical attention, and proper awareness and response can help to prevent serious consequences from being caused in such cases.
