The mpox in Davao City has risen to six confirmed cases.
MPOX IN DAVAO CITY – There have been six cases of monkeypox confirmed in Davao City, adding to the rising numbers in the Philippines.
On May 28, Iloilo City recorded its first case of monkeypox, and four others suspected to be infected were isolated and under observation. Assistant City Health Officer Dr. Roland Jay Fortuna shared that these individuals have been identified and have already received appropriate medical care.

Monkeypox in Talisay City, Cebu, has also recorded one case, and the patient has already died. However, the cause of death is caused by an illness unrelated to mpox. To recall, the very first mpox case in the Philippines was logged just last year in Metro Manila.
Recently, in Davao City, the cases have risen to six. The City Health Office of Davao confirmed this and promptly reminded the public not to worry but just be cautious.
Dr. Sofia Corazon Zafra shared that among the cases, one of them died due to complications. The close contacts of the patients are monitored, but no symptoms have manifested yet.
Monkeypox explained

- Through indirect contact with contaminated surfaces like beddings, clothing, and linens
Common symptoms are:
- Skin rash
- Mucosal lesions with fever
- Swollen lymph nodes or sore throat
- Muscle aches and back pain
- Headache and low energy
