Senator-Elect Tito Sotto Speaks on Pres. Bongbong Marcos’ Stand over VP Sara Duterte Impeachment Trial
TITO SOTTO – The former Senate President attested to the claim of Pres. Bongbong Marcos that he is not in favor of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s impeachment.
There is a looming impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte who was impeached by the House of Representatives last February 5. According to Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero, they have a higher level of preparation for Duterte’s impeachment trial.

Amid Pres. Bongbong Marcos’ statement that he does not want an impeachment, the Duterte camp previously claimed that the Marcos administration wants her removed from her position. The Vice President said she already accepted whatever will be the outcome of the impeachment trial.
The impeachment court is set to convene on June 3. During that time, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is in The Hague to visit former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Amid the looming trial, Malacañang previously claimed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos will not intervene on the matter.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos also recently reiterated his stand on Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial. According to him, he does not want an impeachment. He stressed that his allies in the House of Representatives did not file an impeachment complaint against Duterte.

According to Pres. Bongbong Marcos, those people who filed an impeachment rap against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte are the ones he cannot make an order to. Recently, Senator-elect Tito Sotto attested to the claim of the Chief Executive that he is against the impeachment of the Vice President.
“I will attest to the fact that in number of times that in those moments that we are able to talk with the President… Bongbong Marcos during the course of the campaign, he was really inclined not to support the impeachment,” he said.
Senator-elect Tito Sotto was one of the senatorial bets endorsed by Pres. Bongbong Marcos in the 2025 Midterm Elections. He was one of the candidates of the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago senatorial slate backed by the Marcos administration.

Based on the report, Sotto claimed that Marcos Jr. is concerned over the economy of the country and the government if Duterte will be impeached.
“I believe, yung sinabi niya nung una baka raw makagulo sa takbo ng ekonomiya, ng gobyerno. He is reiterating it now. I agree because narinig ko sa kanya yun. I can attest the fact that he really means that he is not in favor of the impeachment process at this point,” the former Senate President expressed.
Amid the looming impeachment trial, reelected Sen. Bato dela Rosa expressed his confidence that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte will be acquitted.
