Romeo Sara Jr., who lives in Sitio Elineta, brought a 5.25-kilo pig’s head to a local bakery on Saturday morning, May 24, to have it roasted. He was told to return by 4:00 p.m. to pick it up. However, when he came back, he noticed that only 3.25 kilos remained.

Sara claimed that the neck area of the pig’s head had noticeably shrunk and suspected that around 2 kilos of meat were missing. He paid P365 for the roasting service and felt something wasn’t right when he saw the final result.

The bakery owner, on the other hand, denied any wrongdoing. They explained that they wouldn’t risk the reputation of their business over a single pig’s head. According to them, it’s normal for meat to shrink and weigh less after roasting due to the loss of fat and moisture.

The incident is not uncommon when meat is cooked, especially for large cuts like a pig’s head. Roasting can reduce the weight, depending on fat content and cooking time. Still, the incident has raised curiosity and talk within the community, with others sharing similar experiences.
