Content Creator Gets Box of Cali After Sharing His School Suspension Story

A content creator received a box of Cali after his school suspension story goes viral and garnered various reactions online.

Recently, Benjie Tech, a Facebook user, shared a funny memory from high school of getting suspended for drinking Cali, a non-alcoholic sparkling drink, which school staff once mistook for beer. Years later, that same drink brand surprised him with a gift.

Benjie posted a throwback story about how he got in trouble in 1996 for bringing a bottle of Cali Shandy to school. At the time, the school believed it was an alcoholic drink, which led to his suspension.

The story immediately spread like wildfire on social media and reached the Cali Sparkling Soft Drink team. As a fun gesture, they sent Benjie an entire box filled with 48 cans of Cali. What was once a reason for punishment turned into a gift nearly three decades later.

The content creator shared his excitement and thanked Cali for the thoughtful gift. He also gave credit to his mom, who had kept the old letter from the school principal for 29 years, a proof of the long-forgotten incident.

The story brought smiles to many netizens, especially those who remember how Cali was often mistaken for alcohol in the past because of its packaging.

“Last month i posted about getting suspended back in high-school for bringing Cali Shandy to school because it was thought to be an alcoholic drink back then. That post kinda went viral and apparently reached Cali Sparkling Soft Drink so they sent me this today! From getting in trouble in 1996 for drinking 1 bottle to getting 48 cans for free in 2025. This is awesome! Haha! Maraming salamat Cali!
