Fake Doctor Allegedly Behind Boy’s Death After Circumcision
The doctor who circumcised a 10-year-old boy who died after the operation was allegedly fake and previously jailed.
Last weekend, a young boy passed away after undergoing circumcision at a local clinic in Tondo, Manila. However, it turns out the person who performed the procedure was not a licensed doctor.
The one who conducted the operation was reportedly a senior citizen posing as a doctor. In reality, she was said to be a midwife with no medical license to perform surgeries.
According to authorities, she had already been arrested in 2023 after the Philippine National Police received complaints about her operating an illegal clinic in Tondo. At the time, she was caught using the name and license number of a real doctor she used to work with over 20 years ago. She was able to post bail and was later released.
Now, she is being linked to the circumcision that led to the death of young Mc Nathan. The boy’s mother, Marjorie, confirmed that the same woman who was arrested before was the one who introduced herself as a doctor during her son’s procedure.
The clinic where the operation was done reportedly had no valid permit. Local officials said they believed the woman had stopped operating since there were no recent requests or activity.
Nathan’s mother found the clinic online through a friend. She paid P1,200 for the procedure. She was told other boys had also undergone circumcision that day. Her son was given an anesthesia dose of about 20cc.
After a few moments, he started shaking and showed signs of distress. The clinic staff insisted it was normal, but when Nathan turned blue, he was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
The case is now under investigation, and the National Bureau of Investigation is set to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
