Authorities Arrest 2 Suspects After Robbing Coffee Shop in Caloocan
ROBBERY INCIDENT – Two suspects were arrested after robbing a coffee shop in Barangay 30, Maypajo, Caloocan City.
On Monday evening (May 20, 2025), the CCTV footage captured the suspects entering the shop around 11 p.m. One of them quickly pulled out a gun while the other went straight to the customers’ table and took their gadgets.
The armed suspect then approached the cashier and took around P2,500 in cash. Before leaving, he even returned to the customers to grab a few more of their belongings.
Right after the suspects left, one of the victims and the coffee shop staff called for help from patrolling police officers and barangay tanods nearby. One of the suspects was caught shortly after getting off their getaway tricycle and trying to run away. He was the one seen on CCTV holding a gun.
Police said the timing was lucky since law enforcers were already near the area doing patrol rounds. With the help of the tanods, they managed to chase down and arrest the armed suspect.
In a follow-up operation, the second suspect was also arrested after being identified by his accomplice.
Police recovered a bag and a submachine gun allegedly used during the robbery, along with the tricycle used in their escape. Further investigation revealed that the first suspect had just been released from prison this March after serving time for a murder case from 1997. The second suspect was a tricycle driver.
The suspects, both residents of Malabon, admitted that they decided to commit the robbery in Caloocan. Unfortunately, the stolen gadgets and money were not recovered. One suspect confessed due to lack of job opportunities, while the other claimed he was only giving them a ride.
Both suspects now face charges for robbery and illegal possession of firearms and are in police custody.
