Several celebrities ran for public positions in Halalan 2025, and here are some of those who were victorious and went home unsuccessful.

There’s just a thin line between politics and show business, and one of their similarities is that they are both unpredictable. Several local celebrities ran in this midterm election for local government positions, and here are those who were victorious and went home without success.

How did celebrities fare in the 2025 elections?

Based on the partial and unofficial results in the senatorial race, those who were in the “Magic 12” are former TV host Bam Aquino, broadcaster Erwin Tulfo, TV host Tito Sotto, and former actor Lito Lapid.

In the congressional race, Richard Gomez (Leyte, fourth district), Arjo Atayde (Quezon City, first district), and Jolo Revilla (Cavite, first district) have a sure win for earning the majority of votes from their respective districts. This is the same with actress-TV host Lani Mercado (Cavite, second district), former PBA player and coach Franz Pumaren (Quezon City, third district), former TV host Gina de Venecia (Pangasinan, fourth district), former TV host Cutie del Mar (Cebu City, first district), and Ryan Christian Recto (Batangas, sixth district), son of Vilma Santos and Ralph Recto.

Marco Gumabao (Camarines Sur, fourth district), Ejay Falcon (Oriental Mindoro, second district), Lino Cayetano (Taguig City, first district), Rey Malonzo (Caloocan City, first district), and former swimmer Eric Buhain (Batangas, first district), unfortunately, failed in their bid.

For the gubernatorial and vice gubernatorial races, Vilma Santos won by a landslide vote as governor of Batangas, while her running mate and her son, Luis Manzano, failed. Dodo Mandanas beat Manzano by over 200,000 votes.

Actors Daniel Fernando and Alex Castro also won as governor and vice governor of Bulacan, respectively. Former ABS-CBN reporter Sol Aragones also won as the governor of Laguna.

For mayoral and vice mayoral races, Isko Moreno has a good standing as he ran for mayor of Manila again, and Lucy Torres-Gomez is also winning as mayor of Ormoc City, Leyte. Former PBA player Vergel Meneses also won in Bulacan, Bulacan, while Vico Sotto, son of Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes, also won by a landslide vote, re-electing him as mayor of Pasig, his third term.

Victor Neri (Makati), Emilio Garcia (Bay, Laguna), and DJ Durano (Sogod, Cebu), talent manager Arnold Vegafria (Olongapo, Zambales), and director Bobet Vidanes (Pililla, Rizal) failed in their mayoral bid.

Vico’s running mate, Dodot Jaworski, won as vice mayor of Pasig, and Vico’s cousin, Gian Sotto, won as vice mayor of Quezon City. Alex Gonzaga‘s husband, Mikee Morada, also won as vice mayor of Lipa City.

Those who were unsuccessful in their vice mayoral bid included actor Yul Servo, former PBA player Dondon Hontiveros (Cebu City), PBA legend Philip Cezar (San Juan), Monsour del Rosario (Makati), Angelika dela Cruz (Malabon), and Anjo Yllana (Calamba, Laguna).

For councilors, those who claimed victory are Angelu de Leon, Kiko Rustia, Aiko Melendez, Alfred Vargas, Joaquin Domagoso, Lou Veloso, James Yap, Don Allado, Ervic Vijandre, JC Parker, Maricel Morales, and Cai Cortez. On the other hand, Marjorie Barretto, Dennis Padilla, Ara Mina, Shamcey Supsup, Enzo Pineda, Ali Forbes, Aljur Abrenica, Abby Viduya, Ryan Yllana, David Chua, Bong Alvarez, Mocha Uson, and Neil Coleta failed.
