Mother Shares Honest Experience Giving Birth inĀ Public HospitalĀ
A mother earned sympathy online after sharing her personal experience of giving birth in a public hospital.
Recently, Criselda Pallaya, a Facebook user, opened up about what she went through during labor and recovery. The post quickly spread on social media and touched many people who could relate to her experience.
Pallaya explained that while public hospitals offer affordable services, including free food, medicine, and support through PhilHealth, the experience can still be very challenging for mothers.

The poor mom described how patients are expected to follow strict rules from the moment they enter the delivery room. Simple things like having short nails are required, and mothers may need to take care of it themselves even while already in pain.
Watchers are not allowed inside, which can make the experience feel more lonely and overwhelming.
During labor, mothers are expected to stay calm and follow instructions closely. They are told not to push too early and to control their reactions despite the pain. After giving birth, recovery begins right away.

Even if the body is still weak, procedures such as stitching and abdominal care are done quickly to avoid complications. In the ward, space is often shared with other patients and their babies. Rest can be difficult, and mothers are expected to manage on their own while also caring for their newborns.
Breastfeeding is encouraged, and some mothers may find it uncomfortable at first, especially if milk supply has not yet started.
Despite the hardships, the mother shared that she understands the situation of healthcare workers who handle many patients every day. Still, she expressed hope that all patients receive fair and compassionate care.
