Leni Robredo has this goal if the people of Naga will make her win
Former Vice President Leni Robredo vowed to boost transparency and good governance if she wins as Naga City Mayor.
Robredo is among the most prominent names in the political scene in the Philippines. Before becoming Vice President of the Philippines from 2016 to 2022, she was already active in public service in her home province.
In the 2022 elections, she ran for president but did not succeed against her opponent incumbent President Bongbong Marcos.
After three years, many of her supporters were expecting that she would run for senator. Messages of support for her were expressed on social media even before the filing of the certificate of candidacy.
Leni Robredo opted to run for a local position. Despite that decision, this did not affect the influence that she could have on the national positions. The former Vice President endorsed some senatorial candidates.
However, some of her supporters did not like that she endorsed senatorial candidates Manny Pacquiao and Benhur Abalos.
Based on the report from Inquirer, after Robredo cast her vote at the Naga City Science High School on the afternoon of May 12, she stressed what she wanted to do once she is elected.
“We will strengthen mechanisms for good governance, particularly in transparency, accountability, and people empowerment to give heart and soul to our programs,” the wife of the late DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo said.
Aside from this, Robredo will also pay attention to people’s participation. For her, this is the pillar of governance.
“Yes, you can have programs on health, education, and the environment, but if there is no good governance, it’s hard. So for me, it’s all about people’s participation,” the mayoral candidate said.
Furthermore, Leni Robredo said that she will focus on training people who have great potential. She wants to give them the chance to participate in government activities.
She also expressed that overall, the elections in Naga City is orderly and peaceful, and that she hopes it will remain until the end of voting.
