Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Birthday in May
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President revealed that she will return to The Hague, Netherlands and she has a promise to her parents on her birthday.
Early this month, Vice Pres. Duterte arrived in the Philippines after staying for more than three (3) weeks in The Hague where former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is currently detained. The former President is under the custody of the International Criminal Court now.

Duterte is faced with an accusation of crimes against humanity over the war on drugs of the previous administration. The former President repeatedly stressed that everything he did, he did for the country. After finalizing his ICC legal team, Vice Pres. Duterte returned to the Philippines where there’s a looming impeachment trial against her.
Recently, Duterte’s lead counsel, Nicholas Kaufman, called on the Filipinos to respect former Pres. Duterte’s “right to a fair trial”. The British-Israeli lawyer asked why his client who is a Filipino citizen was sent to The Hague and is not being tried in the Philippines.

Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte thanked Pres. Bongbong Marcos for her renewed relationship with former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. According to her, all the legal matters are only discussed between Duterte and his legal clients and they only talked about their family and life inside the ICC detention facility.

Aside from Nicholas Kaufman, the ICC legal team of former Pres. Duterte also includes French lawyer Dov Jacobs. According to the Vice President, they want the lawyers that will compose the ICC legal team of her father to really be focusing in the former President’s case.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte revealed that she will return to The Hague, Netherlands. Based on a post on Facebook account Meh Lody, the Vice President revealed that she has promised her parents to spend her birthday with both of them.
“Nagpromise ako sa mga magulang ko, sa nanay at sa tatay ko, na sa birthday ko, silang dalawa ang kasama ko so babalik ako sa Hague sa birthday ko kasama ‘yung nanay ko,” the Vice President said.

Elizabeth Zimmerman, the ex-wife of former Pres. Duterte and mother of the Vice President, went to The Hague. However, according to the Vice President, her mother was not permitted to visit FPRRD inside the ICC detention facility.
“Noong nagkausap kami ni Pangulong Duterte kahapon, inaantay niya daw na magbisita yung nanay ko… Sabi ko sa birthday ko na lang tayo magkita tatlo,” she said based on the post.
Currently, it is former Pres. Duterte’s eldest son Davao Congressman Paolo Duterte who is in The Hague. Cong. Paolo Duterte had a father-son moment with former Pres. Duterte inside the ICC detention facility.
