PAGASA Says ITCZ and Easterlies to Bring Hot Weather with Chances of Rains Over Parts of PH

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that hot weather with chances of rain is expected over parts of the country.

On Wednesday (April 23, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The ITCZ and easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Rhea Torres reported that hot weather will still prevail over a huge portion of Luzon, but chances of rain are possible in the afternoon and evening.

Intertropical Convergence Zone is expected to bring rains in southern Mindanao, while the easterlies will affect the rest of the country.

“Particularly in parts of Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Sur, Sulu, Basilan, and Tawi-Tawi,” Torres said.

The ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, Sarangani, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

It will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over the remaining parts of Mindanao.

The easterlies will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

“Dulot ng epekto ng easterlies, magiging mainit pa rin ang panahon sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon area ngayong araw,” Torres said.

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Torres said that no low-pressure area or tropical cyclone is being monitored within or outside the Philippine area of responsibility.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition throughout the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA
