Hajji Alejandro: Rachel Alejandro Shares Her Last Moments With Him

Rachel Alejandro says her father, Hajji Alejandro, wanted to recover from colon cancer.

Singer-actress Rachel Alejandro paid tribute to OPM legend Hajji Alejandro, her father, and recalled his final moments.

OPM singer Hajji Alejandro died at the age of 70 due to stage 4 colon cancer. Hajji was known as the “Kilabot ng mga Kolehiyala,” or college girls’ heartthrob, but the one who got his heart and has been with him for 27 years was Alynna. They were never married, but they’ve been together longer than other couples have.

In a previous article, due to some tension, Alynna could not go to his wake. What she did instead was visit his star at the Eastwood City Walk of Fame. She was emotional at that moment, but it was the most that she could do for now.

Recently, the OPM icon’s daughter, Rachel Alejandro, paid tribute to him. She described the late icon as their family’s “brightest star.”

“My Dad was our sun and we were planets, orbiting around him, basking in his warmth and light,” Rachel said in a social media post, and added her memories of him when he used to have them beside him in any activities he attended, may it be shows, rehearsals, or basketball games.

They got so used to having him around that even as adults, they craved his presence for guidance or even having fun, as back when he was still alive, he loved making people laugh as much as he loved singing and dancing.

“My Dad was a happy, optimistic man who valued having a good, comfortable life, yes, but more importantly, he prioritized providing for his partner, mother and children. And his way of doing that from the time he had me at the young age of 19, was through his golden singing voice, which is why regardless of how he was feeling, he never cancelled shows,” she wrote.

She then went on to say he was so hardworking that even amidst unbearable pain, he still did two shows before he was hospitalized. She was with him when he stayed in the hospital for two months, and stayed even after that. Despite this, she was still not prepared when she watched him take his final breath helplessly.

Rachel expressed that she will continue to make him proud, “to live by his code of honor and goodness,” “to perform for you all with everything I’ve got,” and “leave it all on the stage every single time.”
