Sara Duterte Endorses Imee Marcos, Supports Senate Bid

Following the falling out with the president, Sara Duterte shows support for Imee Marcos.

Vice President Sara Duterte supports the Senate reelection bid of Imee Marcos after her falling out with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Senator Imee Marcos is aiming for a second term in the Senate. She withdrew from her brother’s coalition for the 2025 senatorial race. As much as we all know, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is her younger brother.

She formalized her Senate reelection bid by filing her certificate of candidacy (COC) and was joined by her mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, and sons Borgy and Michael Manotoc.

Marcos is running independently, and despite this, the president assured that his political alliance, the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas, will continue to support Imee’s senatorial bid.

Recently, following the fallout with the president, Vice President Sara Duterte has endorsed the reelection bid of the presidential sister. The political advertisement in which she was endorsed by the vice president was released online.

“Itim ngayon ang kulay ng bansa sa gutom at krimen, nagluluksa,” Duterte said, and Imee followed, “Gutom na ang sikmura, gutom pa sa hustisya. Ginigipit ang hindi ka-alyansa.”

“Iboto si Sen. Imee,” Duterte’s line said.

To recall, Senator Marcos officially left the Alyansa in March after leading the Senate investigation into the ICC arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte. Due to the conflicting stances of Marcos and her brother regarding the matter, they’ve been at odds since then.
