Sassa Gurl made this decision regarding his political views
Social media personality Sassa Gurl withdrew his support for senatorial candidate Heidi Mendoza, and this was the reason behind this.
Sassa is one of the most followed content creators nowadays. He was also able to transition to mainstream media as he did some TV and movie appearances.
Currently, his TikTok page has 8.1 million followers. On Facebook, he has 2.7 million followers while his Instagram page has 432 thousand followers.

His account on X, formerly known as Twitter, now has more than 500 thousand followers, and his Threads page has over 62 thousand followers.
With these numbers, Sassa Gurl can reach a wide scope on social media. This was one of the reasons why brands also trust him and other content creators.
Just like other social media personalities, Sassa is also expressive of his political views. However, he recently changed his initial decision.
In a post on X on the night of April 8, he announced that he is retracting his political endorsement for senatorial candidate Heidi Mendoza.

His reason was that Mendoza is not in favor of marriage equality, and this came from the fact that he is a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. The social media personality was hoping that people would understand his decision.
“Iginagalang ko po ang tindig ni Mam Heidi Mendoza hingil sa usapin ng marriage equality kaya ikinalulungkot ko pong ipinapaalam na binabawi ko po ang aking suporta. Hiling ko rin po ang inyong pang-unawa sa aking naging desisyon. Paumanhin at pasasalamat po sa inyo,” Sassa wrote in his tweet.

In the comment section of his post, Sassa Gurl was criticized by some netizens who pointed out that this could mean that he will vote for a corrupt politician who is in favor of same-s=x marriage. On the other hand, some netizens showed other options in voting for senatorial candidates, especially for those who are in the LGBTQIA+ community.
Sadly, if most of you will withdraw your votes for her, there's a big chance that majority of the winners will be TRAPOS. You will let PDP Laban win. I really hope na sana mas pag-isipan niyo pa po. Eto na yong wala tayong choice kundi piliin yong lesser evil.

She could’ve said yes and “for the mean time here’s what you guys can do” but she said no because it does not align with her religious beliefs. Thank you for this @Itssassagurl
