Kris Aquino Has 9 Autoimmune Diseases: What Are These?

Here are the 9 autoimmune disorders of Kris Aquino, with some details about them.

In an update, Kris Aquino shares that she now has 9 autoimmune disorders, and here are some details about these diseases.

For several years now, Kris Aquino has been suffering from multiple autoimmune conditions that have entirely changed the course of her life. She is currently in the Philippines after staying for a couple of years in the US for her treatment.

Last February, Kris revealed her 7th autoimmune condition, called fibromyalgia.

In her recent post, she appealed for prayers as she revealed that from seven conditions, she now has nine. She’s struggling with these conditions along with food and environmental allergies, stating that she has been “hardly exiting [her] safe zone bubble.”

“You needed to see and read what I am enduring. Some have told me don’t post pictures, you’re making your followers sad. It’s my life, and you should see the struggle for you to appreciate the inner strength I have because of your compassion,” she said in the post, and added, “Tuloy ang laban regardless how exhausting and slow the process is.”

The 9 diseases she listed are:

  • Autoimmune Thyroiditis
This is also called chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, or Hashimoto’s disease, and occurs when antibodies attack your inflamed thyroid by mistake.
  • Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria
This is also known as chronic idiopathic urticaria (CIU), and this happens when hives appear in different parts of your body. In severe cases, the appearance of hives may come with other symptoms such as headache, fatigue, joint pain or swelling, sudden reddening of your face, neck, or upper chest, wheezing, diarrhea, or a rapid heartbeat.
  • EGPA
Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis is an ultra-rare disease – an extremely rare form of vasculitis. It inflames small blood vessels, and this inflammation can lead to blood flow restriction, leading to organ damage if left untreated.
  • Systemic Sclerosis/Scleroderma
This makes the body produce too much collagen. This condition can also lead to life-threatening complications.
  • Lupus
This occurs when one’s immune system causes damage to the organs and tissues. The inflammation can affect skin, joints, blood, and organs like your kidneys, lungs, and heart.
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
This condition is when the immune system attacks the body’s own tissues.
  • Fibromyalgia
There’s no cure for this condition that causes pain in the muscles and joints throughout the body.
  • Polymyositis
This is an uncommon inflammatory disease that causes muscle weakness, restricting physical movements.
  • Mixed Connective Tissue Disease
This is sometimes called an overlap disease as it has signs and symptoms of other disorders such as lupus, scleroderma, and polymyositis.
