Robin Padilla expressed this message for the former President
Senator Robin Padilla asserted that he wholeheartedly supports former President Rodrigo Duterte without expecting anything in return.
Padilla surprised many Filipinos when he decided to run for senator in the 2022 elections. He was under the Uniteam of the winning tandem of President Bongbong Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte.
It was his first time to join politics, more so at the national level, and he won as the number one senator. However, there are Filipinos who criticized him and questioned his capacity to be a public servant.
Robin Padilla is a known ally of the Dutertes. The former President recently celebrated his 80th birthday, and based on the article in Bandera, Padilla recalled the time when Duterte granted him “absolute pardon” in 2016.
The senator said that this was the time he fully realized that Duterte is a gentleman. Because of this, Padilla is showing continued love and support for the former President.
During a recent gathering of OFWs at The Hague, Netherlands, to show support for the former Chief Executive, Padilla stressed that he is not asking for any money for the support he is giving to Duterte.
“Wala po ako hininging pera kahit kanino. Hindi ako bayad. Gastos ko po lahat. Yung mga pinagpagawa ko ng t-shirt, pagbili ko ng ticket, hotel, lahat po ‘yan gastos ko,” he said.
Padilla also asserts that when Duterte won, he did not ask for anything in return, he was not given any position in government, and that there was no contract whatsoever.
“Ang pamamahal ko kay Digong ay galing sa puso ko, hindi po galing sa interest,” Robin Padilla said.
Robin Padilla also shared that when Duterte granted him absolute pardon, the President said that it was a second life. The actor-turned-politician also said that he understands Duterte’s situation now because he was also imprisoned for three years.
