Sen. Imee Marcos Believes Bonbong-Led Alyansa Must Be Glad over her Official Departure
IMEE MARCOS – The Senator seemingly took swipe at her brother, President Bongbong Marcos, for not mentioning her during an election campaign rally.
The arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte elicited different reactions from the people in the political arena. There are those who expressed support on the government and Pres. Bongbong Marcos amid the issue while there are also those who raised questions and had negative reactions.

Sen. Imee Marcos even skipped the campaign rally of the Alyansa over Duterte’s arrest. According to the Senator, she cannot accept what was done to the former President and wants to give enlightenment to the public over the unexpected turn of events.
Marcos skipped the campaign rally of the Alyansa in Tacloban as well as in Cavite. The campaign sorties were led by her own brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos.

The Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) which is the political party of Pres. Marcos, the Lakas-CMD, the National Unity Party (NUP), the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), and the Nacionalista Party merged and formed the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago. Here are the senatorial bets of the grand alliance:
- Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos
- Makati City Mayor Abby Binay
- Senator Pia Cayetano
- Sen. Lito Lapid
- Sen. Francis Tolentino
- Senator Ramon ”Bong” Revilla Jr.
- former Sen. Manny Pacquiao
- former Senator Panfilo Lacson
- former Senator Vicente Sotto III,
- Deputy Speaker Camille Villar
- former Social Welfare and Development Secretary Erwin Tulfo

However, unexpectedly, Pres. Bongbong Marcos did not mention Sen. Imee Marcos during the Alyansa campaign rally in Cavite. It is not clear as to whether or not the President accidentally missed the name of his sister but he was able to mention and talk about Camille Villar who was also absent at the campaign sortie then.

Recently, Sen. Imee Marcos officially announced that she’s leaving the Alyansa and will continue her campaign as an independent senatorial bet. According to her, there were actions taken by the administration which are contrary to her ideals and principles in life.
Based on a recent report on Manila Bulletin, Sen. Imee Marcos also expressed her belief that the Alyansa must be happy that she officially left the team. However, the Senator seemingly took swipe at her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
“At least dapat silang matuwa wala ng malabo kasi mahirap naman ‘yung ganun hindi ka sisipot tapos hindi ka iniendorso, hindi ka binabanggit. Mas mabuti na ‘yung maliwanag,” Sen. Marcos said.
Malacañang has yet to issue a statement on the withdrawal of Sen. Marcos from the alliance. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte previously expressed being sad over Pres. Bongbong Marcos not mentioning his sister at a campaign rally.
