Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Sen. Imee Marcos’ Senate Investigation over Dad Rodrigo’s Arrest
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President reacted to Pres. Bongbong Marcos not mentioning his sister, Senator Imee Marcos, during a campaign rally of the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago in Cavite.
Vice Pres. Duterte immediately followed former Pres. Duterte to The Hague, Netherlands. It was last March 11 when the former Chief Executive was arrested under a warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

According to the Vice President, she is the only one in their family with Schengen Visa, thus, it was only her who was able to fly first to the Netherlands. However, former Pres. Duterte wants VP Sara to immediately return to the Philippines.
Former Pres. Duterte has likened his ICC detention place into a hotel accommodation. As per the request of her father, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte plans to just set the legal team of the former President and head home to the country.

The arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte elicited different reactions from the Filipinos including the lawmakers in the Senate and the House of Representatives. Sen. Imee Marcos was shocked by the arrest of the former President and expressed a desire to lead an investigation about it.

At the Senate inquiry over the former President’s arrest, Sen. Imee Marcos said that the government surrendering Duterte to ICC made it appear like he has no country of his own. She also believes that there is seemingly no due process in the arrest of the former President.
Following the arrest of the former President, Sen. Marcos skipped the Alyansa campaign rally in Tacloban saying she cannot accept what was done to FPRRD. Marcos was also no show at the BBM-led campaign rally in Cavite.

Unexpectedly, Pres. Bongbong Marcos did not mention Sen. Imee Marcos at the Cavite campaign rally of the Alyansa. It is not clear whether the President intentionally or unintentionally missed to mention the name of his sister but he was reportedly able to mention the name of senatorial bet Camille Villar who was also not there at the rally.
Based on a video of the interview with Vice Pres. Sara Duterte posted by GMA News, the Vice President is sad over what happened to Sen. Imee Marcos but she is grateful regarding the Senate inquiry over the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
“It’s sad that this happened to Sen. Imee Marcos pero I truly appreciate the fact that she opened a Senate inquiry on the illegal arrest of Pres. Duterte,” the Vice President.
However, during the interview, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte admitted that it is not her call as to the possibility of the PDP-Laban adopting Sen. Imee Marcos. According to her, it depends on her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, who is the chairman of the political party.
“Hindi ko po masagot ‘yan kasi ang slate po ay under Pres. Rodrigo Duterte,” she said.
The president of PDP-Laban is Sen. Robin Padilla who requested to visit former Pres. Duterte to ask about their political party’s plans amid the election season.
