Celebrities such as Vice Ganda, Ruffa Gutierrez, and others were invited.
ABS-CBN superstar Vice Ganda was invited by Congress to attend the “fake news” probe with other famous celebrities.
There is a House inquiry regarding fake news, and some pro-Duterte bloggers are seen breaking into tears after they were cornered due to spreading disinformation online.

University of the Philippines journalism professor Danilo Arao told Rappler, “The hearing was somewhat good in the sense that the ‘fake news’ purveyors have been exposed for who they are, particularly their thought process and how they regard facts.”
At a House hearing, pro-Duterte vloggers apologized for spreading fake news and sharing rude social media posts.
When it comes to fake news, among the targeted subjects are celebrities, and Congress has invited several to attend the probe about fake news. According to the House Tri Committee, famous personalities such as Angel Locsin, Liza Soberano, Julia Barretto, Gerald Anderson, Catriona Gray; broadcasters Jessica Soho and Atom Araullo; and athletes Hidilyn Diaz and EJ Obiena were victims of fake news.
Among those who were invited are Vice Ganda, Ruffa Gutierrez, Mon Confiado, and Baron Geisler. However, they were not able to attend. Geisler claimed he did not receive the invitation and regrets not attending.

Congress expects their presence in the next hearing.
Meanwhile, in a previous article, Ruffa declined the Congress invitation. She is one of the invited personalities, but she could not attend the event because of prior commitments. Besides, she is also not interested in involving herself in anything connected to politics.
She said in a statement, “I was invited to attend this hearing but politely declined, not only due to a prior commitment but also because I choose not to be politically involved, even as I remain a target of fake news and misinformation.”
