Non-Profit Animal Rescue Group Clarifies Reason Over Refusal to Accept Kitten Sent via Lalamove
A non-profit animal rescue group clarified why they refused to accept a kitten that was sent to them through a delivery service.
Recently, the Facebook page ‘The Cat House’ shared their reason for refusing to accept a kitten sent via Lalamove. The post quickly circulated online and elicited various reactions from the internet users.
Earlier that day, a Lalamove rider arrived at their address with a kitten in a taped-up box. The rider explained that someone from Laguna had arranged the delivery, picking up the kitten from a Starbucks in Calamba.

The rescue group, however, refused to accept the kitten and insisted that it be returned to the sender. They emphasized that they are not a government-funded shelter or a city pound, and they do not take in surrendered pets or stray animals from unknown sources.
The team also pointed out that sending a live animal through a courier service is against Lalamove’s policy, as it causes unnecessary stress to the animal.
After speaking with the sender, the organization found inconsistencies in the story. The sender claimed a child from the streets had asked them to send the kitten to the rescue, yet somehow, they knew the group’s exact address.

Additionally, the name on the Lalamove booking did not match the GCash account used for payment, raising further suspicions.
To ensure the kitten’s safety, the rescue group had their partner accompany the rider back to Laguna. They confirmed that the kitten was returned to the sender and not abandoned elsewhere.

The group also educated the rider on the proper way to handle animals to minimize stress.
The Cat House reminded the public that animal rescues have their limits and cannot shoulder the responsibility of every stray. They urged people to stop placing blame on them and to consider the effort it takes to care for abandoned animals.
