Is Kim Chiu alluding to Duterte’s arrest?
In the Tuesday episode of It’s Showtime, host-actress Kim Chiu went viral because of her spiels that created a loud buzz online.
Did Kim Chiu allude to former president Rodrigo Duterte’s arrest in her statement on It’s Showtime? Many people online reacted to the remarks, and immediately, the ABS-CBN star cleared the air and set the record straight.
She was accused of taking a dig at Duterte, and a part of her spiel said:
“Para naman sa mga feeling nila ay hindi pa dumarating ang tamang panahon para sa kanila, ang masasabi namin [ay] deserve… Wait, ‘di pa ako tapos—deserve niyong rumesbak sa buhay!”
The people online apparently misinterpreted her speech. Others assumed she was talking about how Duterte “deserved to be jailed” but in reality, she was just reading the script given to her.
In a previous article, Vice Ganda addressed fake news involving him as well. There were people online spreading statements claimed to be from him. He cautioned the people to be careful in what they consume online and in the things they want to believe in.
About ex-president Rodrigo Duterte’s arrest
On March 11, the former president was arrested and was flown out of the Philippines at night to face the international tribunal over crimes against humanity committed in his drug war. The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued the arrest warrant.
The Palace also addressed Duterte’s arrest and Malacañang Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said, “So we have to comply with the law and give justice, either to the victims or to the accused.”
On his flight to The Hague, he was accompanied by former executive secretary Salvador Medialdea, a nurse, and an assistant.
