A viral It’s Showtime contestant accepted Comelec’s invitation
Heart Aquino, an It’s Showtime contestant who went viral, spoke after she visited the Comelec office.
To recall, Heart caught the attention of the online community when she joined a beauty pageant segment in the Kapamilya noontime show. When host Unkabogable Vice Ganda asked her to give her message to Comelec, she said that she is now knowledgeable about this.
This surprised Vice and apparently, the viewers of the noontime show because Heart is already 20 years old, which meant that she is eligible to vote.
Because of that answer, the It’s Showtime contestant received bashing from the online community. Amid this issue, the Commission on Elections invited Heart Aquino to visit their office and have a guided tour.
On March 4, Heart went to the Comelec office. Based on the article in PEP, the noontime show contestant said that she now understands the meaning of the agency.
“Mas naunawaan ko po yung meaning din po talaga ng COMELEC and kung ano pa po yung ginagawa nila. Ine-encourage ko po na mas alamin pa rin po natin yung trabaho po ng COMELEC,” Heart said.
She also said that she is open if ever Comelec offers her to be its ambassador. For her, this is a good opportunity and she is willing to do this to inspire more youth.
Heart added that she will use her social media platforms to encourage the younger generation to know the meaning of Comelec.
The It’s Showtime contestant also defended herself. She pointed out that she was not that knowledgeable about Comelec but it did not mean that she knows nothing. Heart said that she just experienced a mental block at that time because it was her first TV appearance.
She also had this message to her bashers, “Kaya sa mga bumabatikos po, sana intindihin din po muna nila and alamin po nila yung reason po kung bakit hindi ko po siya nasagot.“
