Katrina Halili talked about doung “kontrabida” roles
Kapuso actress Katrina Halili showed her versatility in doing both “bida” and “kontrabida” roles in teleseryes.
Katrina has come a long way since she started her acting career through the Kapuso talent search StarStruck. She was first known for her antagonist characters. However, in recent years, Katrina’s roles were protagonists, just like in her latest TV series Mommy Dearest.
In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Katrina admitted that she misses doing “kontrabida” roles. She said that she is fine with whatever role is given to her by her home network. The actress renewed her contract with GMA last year and she is thankful for the network’s support despite her past scandal.

During her early years in showbiz, most roles given to her were antagonist characters. Then, she wished to portray protagonist characters and this was given to her also.
“Nabigyan ako Prima Donnas, Unica Hija. Tapos ito [Mommy Dearest]. Tapos naisip ko, ‘Puwede naman ako bumalik sa kontrabida.’ Yun naman, kinakausap ko yung sarili ko. Kaka-miss din, kasi nakakapagod umiyak ha,” Katrina Halili shared.
The actress added that she was quite shocked that she is now stuck in characters on the good side. However, she is not complaining about this because it just meant that she is being trusted with the roles given to her.
Katrina also shared that before, she was hesitant to accept “bida” roles because her friends would tell her that it was not fit for her. This became a challenge to her in how she will give justice to her protagonist roles.

The actress also recalled that even the reporters back then were surprised that she was even a “mabait” role for the first time. She was hoping that people would believe her. It seemed that she was believable in portraying protagonist roles because this is her third time already.
Katrina Halili said that right now, she is more comfortable in doing protagonist roles. “Medyo, hindi ko na nga alam kung comfortable pa rin ako magmaldita, e,” she added.
