TJ Monterde shared how his wife supported him
Singer-songwriter TJ Monterde revealed how his wife Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan made him feel secure despite her status in the entertainment industry.
TJ and KZ are among the well-known singer couples in the Philippines. Although they are in the same field, never did they feel that they are competing with each other. It is a fact that KZ’s career became more successful before TJ received the recognition he also deserves.
When they tied the knot in 2020, KZ was already a household name, known as one of the most popular singers of her generation with hit songs and sold-out concerts.
In a recent interview on Toni Talks, the YouTube talk show of Ultimate Multimedia Star Toni Gonzaga, TJ Monterde shared that even back when he was courting KZ Tandingan, during interviews, he would be asked what he would feel being accused of just using her to be famous.
He would brush off those questions but admitted that somehow it had affected him. However, he commends his wife for defending him. He is aware of the difference in their status in the entertainment industry but he admired how KZ handled this.
“Yung insecurity, doon ako na-amaze eh, kasi hindi ko siya nararamdaman,” TJ Monterde said, adding that it is because of how his wife handled their situation and the assurance she gives to him.
KZ would tell him that he does not need her because he is already a good performer. Even during the time when there was nothing happening after he released a song and was thinking of giving up already and finding another career, his wife would tell him that his time would come.
KZ would show that optimism that TJ’s time to be successful will also come and he would buy her the bag that she wants. “Lagi niya akong sinasabihan, ‘darating ang time, darating ang time,” TJ shared.
With this, Toni said that it is a big thing that a wife has this kind of perspective. “Alam mo kung ano ang nakita niya sa’yo? Potential,” Toni said to TJ. The actress-host also said that KZ saw what TJ could be in the future and not the situation he was in at that time.
