PAGASA Says ITCZ, Shear Line, and Amihan To Bring Rains Over Parts of PH
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that ITCZ, shear line, and amihan will bring rain over parts of the country.
On Tuesday (February 18, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Three weather systems will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA weather specialist Chenel Dominguez reported that the shear line, Intertropical Convergence Zone, and Northeast Monsoon will bring clouds and rains over parts of the archipelago.

The shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Isabela and Aurora.
“Meron din tayong shear line, o ‘yung salubungan na mainit at malamig na hangin, na nakakaapekto dito sa eastern section ng Northern Luzon,” Dominguez explained.
The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy weather conditions with rains over Batanes, Cagayan, and Apayao. Flash floods or landslides are possible in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The Intertropical Convergence Zone will bring similar weather conditions overthe Zamboanga Peninsula, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
“Ito po ‘yung intertropical convergence zone o ITCZ na nakakaapekto naman dito sa may Southern Mindanao,” Dominguez said.
The easterlies will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country. Possible flash floods or landslides are expected during severe thunderstorms.
Localized thunderstorms will also affect other parts of Mindanao.
“Pagdating sa hapon at sa gabi, asahan din po nating frequent din po itong mga localized thunderstorm, lalo na po dito sa naapektuhan ng intertropical convergence zone, particularly dito po sa may Mindanao,” she added.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough, while the remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.
