Ruru Madrid Says Coco Martin Is Not His “Kalaban”

Ruru Madrid talked about the supposed “competition” between him and Coco Martin

Kapuso actor Ruru Madrid stressed that he never considered Batang Quiapo actor Coco Martin as his competitor.

Ruru has been doing primetime Kapuso series for several years and some of his projects are airing in the same time slot as Coco’s Kapamilya series.

Because of this, inevitably competition will arise between the two shows or between the two lead stars. Previously, Ruru shared the heartwarming moment he had when he first met Coco.

The Kapuso actor also shared that he is open to working with Coco in the future. In a recent interview on the YouTube channel of talent manager-vlogger Ogie Diaz, Ruru Madrid shared that growing up, he watched Coco Martin’s teleseryes.

He said it never occurred to him that Coco was his rival. At a young age, he was a fan of the Kapamilya actor’s teleseryes, and he and his mother would watch them every night.

Aside from his mother, his grandmother is also a fan of Coco. “Lahat po ‘yan pinapanood namin ng nanay ko. Kasi sobrang fan po ‘yong nanay ko ni Sir Coco. Pati ‘yong lola ko. Growing up sobrang iniidolo ko po siya,” the Kapuso actor said.

This is the reason why Ruru feels so overwhelmed that now, he has the chance to do a series just how Coco has been doing it for many years.

For him, Coco is not an opponent and it is just that their teleseryes are being aired in the same time slot.

“Nagkakataon lang na nagkakatapat po ‘yong time slot namin,” aniya. “Pero never ko pong iisipin na kalaban ko siya. Kahit kailan. Kasi para po sa akin, nasa pedestal siya. Tinitingala ko po siya,” Ruru Madrid said.

Meanwhile, the Kapuso actor has returned to primetime with the season of his series Lolong.
