The authorities are now searching for the e-bike rider who went viral after smashing a truck with a hammer in Quezon City. The incident took place on Sgt. Rivera Street last Friday (February 7, 2025).
According to reports, the e-bike rider got angry after the truck driver repeatedly honked at him. The truck driver claimed that the e-bike suddenly cut in front of him, prompting him to use his horn multiple times.
“Nung tinanong natin itong victim truck driver, sinabing sumingit itong e-bike, naunahan siya. Ang ginawa nitong truck driver binusinahan nang binusinahan. Nairita itong naka e-bike kaya hinarang siya doon, nagkaroon sila ng commotion,” Police Lieutenant Gilbert Cruz, QCPD Police Station 1 Commander.
The gesture allegedly irritated the e-bike rider, who then blocked the truck and began attacking it with a hammer.
The truck driver also reported that before he could record the incident, the e-bike rider had already punched him. Police investigations have confirmed the identity of the suspect, but he is now in hiding, along with his wife, who was present during the altercation.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) officials stated that they have reached out to the suspect’s parents, urging them to convince their son to come forward and explain his side of the story.
Authorities are reminding motorists to remain patient on the road to prevent similar incidents. “Eh kung sinagasaan sila nito truck eh di tapos diba, ang laki-laki ng truck niya e. Kaya konting lamig lang sa mga motorista natin,” Cruz added.
Police noted that if the truck driver had decided to retaliate, the situation could have turned into a much bigger tragedy. The company has advised the truck driver not to speak to the media.
