6-Year-Old Girl Gets Hospitalized After Alleged Beating by Playmate’s Mom in Caloocan City
A 6-year-old girl named Elisha is in critical condition after reportedly being assaulted by the mother of their playmate in Caloocan City.
According to the victim’s relatives, Elisha had gone to their friend’s house to play. However, when the child returned, they were unconscious, with a bloodied head and multiple bruises on their body. The boy’s aunt described how swollen the child’s face was, with visible injuries all over.
“Halos ‘di ko makilala ‘yung pamangkin ko kasi namamaga ‘yung mukha, namamaga ‘yung mata. Tapos ang daming pasa, Nakakapanlumo kasi hindi nga namin sinasaktan ‘yung bata tapos ganu’n ‘yung gagawin sa kanya,” the victim’s aunt said.
The authorities have arrested the suspect, who turned out to be the mother of Elisha’s friend. Her own 6-year-old child recounted what happened, claiming their mother attacked Elisha.
They said she banged Elisha’s head against a bowl several times, then lifted and shook the child violently.
A relative of the suspect heard screams coming from the house and ran to check. When they arrived, they found Elisha lying on the ground, vomiting blood. The family wasted no time and rushed the child to the hospital.
Elisha had severe head injuries and wounds all over their body and had to undergo surgery. As of Monday (January 27, 2025), the child remains in critical condition.
“‘Yun ang tinitingnan pa rin natin ngayon — bakit niya nagawa sa bata… Pero based sa investigation natin, tinanong natin ‘yung nanay ng suspek natin… May record siya na may mental disorder,” Hillcrest Police Sub-Station commander Captain Romel Caburog said.
The motive behind the attack is still unclear, and investigators are digging into the case. Early findings suggest the suspect may have a history of mental health issues. For Elisha’s family, nothing can justify such an act.
The suspect now faces frustrated murder charges and is in police custody.
