PAGASA Says 3 Weather Systems to Affect PH Weather Condition
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that three weather systems will bring rain over some parts of the country.
On Thursday (January 16, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon, shear line, and easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA weather specialist Chenel Dominguez reported shear line, the easterlies, and the Northeast Monsoon will bring cloudy skies and rains over parts of the country.
The shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon.
The easterlies will bring similar weather conditions over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
“Due to the easterlies, which is warm winds, and then northeast monsoon, which is cold winds, this interaction results in what we call shear line that currently affects the eastern section of Luzon,” Dominguez said.
Cloudy skies with rains are expected over the Cordillera Administrative Region and the rest of Cagayan Valley.
Amihan will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, and the rest of Central Luzon. Similar weather conditions are expected over the rest of the country due to the easterlies.
“The eastern section if Visayas at Mindanao will also experience overcast skies with scattered rain showers due to the easterlies,” Dominguez explained.
The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern Luzon will be rough to very rough. Visayas and Mindanao will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.
“So, we are advising our countrymen that it’s dangerous to go sailing on these seaboards,” Dominguez added.
