PAGASA Says 3 Weather Systems to Affect PH Weather Condition
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that ITCZ, shear line, and amihan will bring cloudy and rainy weather over parts of the country.
On Thursday (January 2, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Three weather systems will affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina reported that Intertropical Convergence Zone will be affecting Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan, the Shear Line will affect the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon while the Northeast Monsoon will affect the rest of Northern Luzon.
The ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Visayas, Mindanao, Romblon, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate.
“Gayundin ang intertropical convergence zone o ito ‘yung ITCZ na siyang nagdadala ng mga kaulapan at malaking chance na mga pag-ulan partikular na sa bahagi ng Mindanao, kasama din natin ang Visayas ilang bahagi ng Bicol region,” Badrina explained.
The shear line will bring similar weather conditions over the rest of the Bicol Region, Quezon, Marinduque, Aurora, Isabela, Quirino, and Cagayan.
“Ang shear line o banggaan ng mainit at malamig na hangin na nakakaapekto sa silangang bahagi ng Northern and Central Luzon,” Badrina said.
Amihan will bring cloudy skies with rains over Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and Ilocos Norte.
The northeast monsoon will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the rest of the Ilocos Region.
“Ang ibang bahagi ng Cagayan Valley ay maaaring makaranas ng mahihinang mga pag-ulan dulot ng amihan o northeast monsoon, kasama din ang Ilocos Norte,” he added.
The shear line will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains or severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.
