There is reportedly a high chance that It’s Showtime will be renewed by the GMA network.
IT’S SHOWTIME – The ABS-CBN noontime show reportedly has a higher chance now in terms of renewing the contract with the GMA network.
Years after ABS-CBN lost in its franchise renewal bid, It’s Showtime has found its new home on GMA Network. Showtime began airing on GMA Network’s main channel on April 6 and the contract signing has made history.
Hosts such as Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, Kim Chiu, Ogie Alcasid, Karylle, Amy Perez, Teddy Corpuz, Jugs Jugueta, Darren, Ryan Bang, Ion Perez, Jackie Gonzaga, MC, Lassy, and Cianne Dominguez were there to witness it all.
However, towards the end of the year, rumors about the end of the contract and non-renewal surfaced.
Based on the grapevine, TiktoClock will replace Showtime starting January 2025. This is the pre-programming of Showtime, a morning variety show of the Kapuso Network. In a previous article, GMA senior vice president Annette Gozon-Valdes spoke about the matter and shared that the matter was under negotiation. This was in November.
Now, as the year nears the end, reports about this surfaced again and according to the latest, there’s a “95 percent” chance that Showtime will be renewed. The GMA executive said during an interview, “May hinintay kaming data kaya natagalan kami bumalik sa kanila. Pero siguro mga 95 percent ano na yan.”
They are still waiting for more data before the decision gets finalized but when it comes to other things such as the ratings, there has been no problem accordingly. Gozon also clarified that Showtime has no debts to GMA.
“Wala, wala, wala! Wala silang utang, wala,” she expressed.
She added that the contract will end by the end of this year and they hope that the decision will be made by next week or the week after next week.
