Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Reacts To 3rd Impeachment Complaint that may be Filed against her
SARA DUTERTE – The Philippine Vice President remains optimistic amid the impeachment complaints filed against her.
The recent years in the Philippine political arena did not have records of impeachment complaints filed against the president and the vice president. This year, two (2) impeachment complaints have been filed against Vice Pres. Duterte.
Akbayan Party-list Rep. Perci Cendaña endorsed the first impeachment complaint against Duterte while the second complaint was endorsed by the Makabayan bloc lawmakers. Since last week, there were speculations that another impeachment complaint will be filed soon.
Yesterday, a House member confirmed that a religious group is “certain” to file the 3rd impeachment complaint against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Recently, the Vice President was asked about the looming third impeachment complaint against her.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte that she sees the impeachment complaint as a way or venue for her to properly address the accusations against her. She also cited that there are rules for impeachment.
Meanwhile, Vice Pres. Duterte admitted that it is only her position and the staff members of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) may have a different take on it. She recognized that it is an inconvenience but she also remains optimistic on how the situation can be on her advantage.
“It is an inconvenience, dahil siyempre pag mayroong impeachment complaint, mayroong mga lawyers at mayroong support staff na kailangan i-hire, at kailangan bayaran ang professional fees. But otherwise, sa tingin ko naman, okay ito kasi nakakasagot ng maayos sa accusation,” the Vice President said.
According to Duterte, her lawyers are on standby in case their camp receives the articles of impeachment. However, the Vice President has yet to reveal her legal counsels on the matter. Based on the report, the impeachable offense stated in the complaints is betrayal of public trust over the Confidential Funds issue.
Recently, the Commission on Audit (COA) revealed that the Office of the President remains the top spender of the confidential and intel funds. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte feels disrespected that the House is not investigating Marcos’ office.
