Sylvia Sanchez shared that she tried to delay Arjo Atayde’s showbiz career
Seasoned actress Sylvia Sanchez shared her thoughts on the acting awards that her son actor-politician Arjo Atayde received.
Sylvia is a respected actress in the Philippine entertainment industry. Eventually, her children Arjo and Ria Atayde also entered showbiz.
Back when Arjo Atayde was just 10 or 11 years old, he became part of the popular kiddie show Ang TV. At that time, Arjo really wanted to be an actor. However, Sylvia strictly told her son to focus on his studies.
When Arjo was in high school, based on the article in PEP, he brought up his dream to his mom once again but Sylvia did not want him to be in showbiz. The seasoned actress wanted him to finish his studies and become a businessman.
However, Arjo Atayde’s calling in showbiz was so strong that he could no longer delay that. He eventually became an actor officially, an award-winning actor in particular.
Sylvia Sanchez was asked about the achievement of her son as an actor. Arjo won the Best Lead Actor in a TV Program award at the Content Asia Awards 2024 for his role in Anton dela Rosa in Cattleya Killer. He also won the Best Actor Award at the Asian Academy Creative Awards in Singapore in 2020.
“Alam mo, nung nanalo siya, parang wala na akong masabi. Thank you Lord na lang, kasi di ba, dito sa Pilipinas pag na-nominate siya, nananalo din siya. Lagi yun,” Sylvia said about his son.
The season actress also said that his son will have another international recognition. Arjo’s movie Topakk with Julia Montes was first shown at the Cannes Marché du Film Fantastic Pavilion in France last May 2023 and then, at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland in August 2023. The same movie is part of the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival.
