PAGASA Says ITCZ, Shear Line and Amihan to Affect PH Weather Condition
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the shear line and the northeast monsoon will bring rains over parts of the country.
On Thursday (December 12, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Three weather systems will affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA weather specialist Rhea Torres reported that Shear Line will be affecting the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon while the Northeast Monsoon will affect Northern Luzon and the rest of Central Luzon.

The shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes.
The Intertropical Convergence Zone will bring similar weather conditions over Mindanao, Central Visayas, Palawan, Negros Oriental, Leyte, and Southern Leyte.
The Northeast Monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Ifugao.

Amihan will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light over Ilocos Region, and the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region and Central Luzon.
The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
The weather agency has warned the residents in the affected areas for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central, Southern Luzon, rest of Luzon, Visayas, and the eastern section of Mindanao will be moderate to rough.
The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.
“Ibayong pag-iingat pa rin po sa mga planong pumalaot sa mga dagat baybayin ng Luzon at sa silangang karagatan po ng ating bansa. Nasa katamtaman hanggang sa maalon pa rin ‘yung ating karagatan, na maaaring umabot po ng 3.1 meters yung taas ng mga pag-alon,” Torres said.
