Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Investigation of NBI over Remarks vs. Pres. Marcos
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President will skip the probe of the NBI anew for the OVP lunch party with the media.
Many of the tirades of Vice Pres. Duterte against Pres. Bongbong Marcos did not hook serious attention but her remarks against the Marcoses triggered the National Bureau of Investigation or NBI to issue a subpoena against Duterte.
Vice Pres. Duterte released a statement that seemingly sparked threats on the lives of Pres. Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez. The Department of Justice (DOJ) also vowed to look into the statements of the Vice President as well as those of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
The elder Duterte has repeatedly accused Marcos Jr. of drug use. He also expressed his confidence that his daughter can handle all the issues surrounding her and the Office of the Vice President.
The National Bureau of Investigation initially set the schedule of the investigation on November 29. However, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was unable to attend it. She already spoke prior that she will be prioritizing her appearance at the House panel hearing over the spending of the OVP Confidential Funds.
The House panel has decided to cancel the hearing so Duterte can appear before the NBI. However, according to the investigation bureau, the Vice President was still not able to appear for the probe as she found out about the cancellation of the House panel hearing late already.
The NBI agreed to reschedule the investigation on December 11. However, based on a recent report of Inquirer, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has already announced that she will skip the NBI probe anew.
According to the Vice President, she will be attending a thanksgiving event on that day and she will go home to Davao City after for the burial of her uncle. Based on the report, Duterte’s office has invited the source for a lunch party with the media to be held at the OVP headquarters in Mandaluyong City.
Reportedly, it was last week when the Office of the Vice President sent invitations to the media for the December 11 lunch party. Duterte said her understanding is that she is not mandated to attend the NBI probe in-person based on the explanation of her lawyers.
