Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Summons Issued by the NBI
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President explained her understanding of the subpoena of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) over her remarks against Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
Vice Pres. Duterte has thrown several heated remarks against Pres. Marcos since she resigned from the being the secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd) in June. While the President rarely responds to her tirades, her recent remarks were not able to skip the eye of the authorities.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte threw remarks that seemingly ignited threats on the life of Pres. Bongbong Marcos as well as the lives of First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and House Speaker Martin Romualdez. She claimed that part of her “final wish” is the death of the Marcoses.
The National Bureau of Investigation or NBI issued a subpoena against Vice Pres. Duterte over her remarks against Pres. Marcos. However, the Vice President has requested for its rescheduling from the main schedule of November 29.
The investigation bureau allowed the rescheduling of the investigation to December 11. However, the NBI did not grant the request of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte for a copy of the questions that they will ask from her.
Aside from the subpoena issued by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), two (2) impeachment complaints have been filed against Vice Pres. Duterte. The House panel has decided to end its probe on the Confidential Funds spending of the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
The NBI summons was rescheduled from November 29 to December 11. However, based on a report on GMA News, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte said that she could not attend the December 11 investigation of the investigation bureau.
“Ang pagkakaintindi ko sa explanation ng mga abogado ko sa investigation ng NBI ay pwede namang hindi pumunta. Pwede naman magsubmit nalang daw ng sulat or affidavit,” the Vice President said.
Based on the report, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also said that they have thanksgiving activities on December 11 and she will be going home to Davao City after the event. According to the Vice President, she will attend the funeral of her uncle in Davao.
Amid the issues then over the remarks of Vice Pres. Duterte, Pres. Bongbong Marcos said that he will not allow a threat to his life. He also reaffirmed his commitment to respecting the decisions of the members of the House and the Senate.
